Cargill Inc. is among the companies looking into acquiring Keystone Foods, the supplier for McDonald's chicken nuggets, according to a Bloomberg article.
The other companies interested in acquiring the business are Tyson Foods and Fosun International, according to the report. Brazil beef maker Marfrig Global Foods SA wants to sell Keystone Foods for $3 billion. In 2010 Marfrig purchased the company for $1.26 billion, Bloomberg reports.
Minnetonka-based Cargill is already a supplier to Oak Brook, Ill.-based McDonald's, so it might be a natural fit for the company. However, Cargill wouldn't talk to Bloomberg about the matter.
