Israeli baker GreenLite has unveiled plans to introduce its range of gluten-free bakery products in Europe for the first time later this year.

The products which include breads, bagels, pastries, cakes and cookies, are primarily long-life frozen bakery items. GreenLite said that the products, which are also dairy free and contain no casein, lactose, transfats, genetically modified ingredients or artificial colouring, improve after freezing and retain their taste and texture.

GreenLite also outlined ambitions to crack the US gluten-free bakery market and said that it is working on developing a relationship with US and UK retailer Whole Foods Market.

The firm, which has two production facilities in Israel and a 45% share of the domestic market, added that it was able to make and sell gluten-free bakery products for the same price as non-gluten free items.
